A place we walk or bike past very often. And every time it is different. Even within a day everything changes. That fact was the inspiration for two paintings, of which this is one: “Sunset Droppings. It shows the place just before sunset. The grass on the dike has just been hayed and wrapped in agricultural plastic into black “droppings. The evening sun reflects beautifully on the black plastic and into the ditch. ‘Sunrise Stripes’ is the other painting and shows the same spot, but this time just after sunrise. The sun makes long shadow-stripes through the row of trees along the road. The shadows are so long that they go over the ditch and even over the dike. A dike with freshly cut grass. You can almost smell it. The two paintings do not officially form a diptych, but still it would be nice if they could stay near each other. They both measure 80x80cm and the horizon is at the same height in both works.
N.B. This work, together with the work ‘Summer Stroll’ was exhibited from November 11, 2023 to May 12, 2024 at the Dutch Lithography Museum in Valkenswaard during the exhibition ‘PUNT. Pointillism. Pop-Art. Pixel.’ and is included in the exhibition catalog.

Modern-pointillist painting in professional quality acrylic paint on 430 grs linen canvas, stretched on a 4cm thick 80x80cm wooden frame. The work is finished with a high-quality acrylic varnish. The painting is specially framed; namely with a black, 2cm thick, tight wooden frame so that the painted sides remain visible. The work is signed on the front bottom right and on the back with a steel wire and thus ready to hang.
