How many times have we walked or biked past this place? Each time it is different. Even within a day, a lot changes. That fact inspired two paintings, of which this is one: ‘Sunrise Stripes’ shows the place just after sunrise. The sun makes long shadow-stripes through the trees lined up along the road. So long that they cross the ditch and even the dike. The dike with freshly cut grass. You can almost smell it. The other painting, inspired by the same spot, is “Sunset Droppings. Same place, but different time of day, namely just before sunset. And here the grass is not freshly cut, but has just been hayed and wrapped in agricultural plastic into black “droppings. The evening sun reflects beautifully on the black plastic and into the ditch. They do not officially form a diptych, but still, it would be nice if they stayed together. They both measure 80x80cm and the horizon is at the same height in both works.

Modern-pointillist painting in professional quality acrylic paint on 430 grs linen canvas, stretched on a 4cm thick 80x80cm wooden frame. The work is finished with a high-quality acrylic varnish. The painting is specially framed; namely with a black, 2cm thick, tight wooden frame so that the painted sides remain visible.
