How nice it is to harvest your own vegetables…. Besides being healthy and delicious, it can also make for a beautiful picture.
The contrast between the green leaves (and eggplant) and the pinkish-red stems of the red beets immediately caught my attention. As did the contrast between the smooth and rough surfaces. Add to that the challenge of material expression of the zinc tub and gravel, as well as the strong light/dark contrast due to the daylight. All that made it attractive to paint. And hopefully to look at as well.
