5th prize Green Heart Art Prize 2015: Our Green Heart has become what it is today entirely by human hands. Over the centuries, this landscape has changed time and again; shaped to our liking. We like to call it nature, but it is actually mostly ‘useful’ green: roads and water for transportation, dikes to keep the land dry, pastures for the cows to graze. And. trees for reinforcement (and decoration), in straight rows along polder roads and dikes. If after years a tree – through storm or other (natural) violence – falls out, we quickly repair it with young plantings. Repaired!
From the professional jury’s report:
‘The idea behind the performance and the pointillist execution are appreciated. The entrant had already been chosen in the top five in a previous year’s edition of the Green Heart Art Prize and he thus demonstrates a consistent quality at a high level.’
