Much of my inspiration comes from my immediate surroundings, the polder where I live and work. Another person might find a polder boring and flat, but while walking through the polder I see all kinds of scenes worth painting. Like this fence, one of many I come across, early in the morning and bearing rime after a night frost, just like all those blades of grass…. Thus the changing weather conditions make everything look completely different every day.
