The polder where I live, Groot-Mijdrecht Noord, is the inspiration for many of my paintings. At the same time, the scenes that stand out and inspire me are also very recognizable for many others. Misty Meadow is a good example I think. Because the polder land is usually below sea level – and that certainly applies to this second-deepest polder in the Netherlands at more than 6 meters below NAP – you soon have such a low-hanging mist that hangs over the land like a blanket, leaving only the trees and the backs of the cows still stand out.
